Privacy Policy
At BT Entertainment Holdings Limited (BTEH), our purpose
and goal is to bring the uniquely creative storytelling
of Balltown to the world through fun and engaging
interactive media. We welcome our visitors
most warmly, entertain creatively, help parents
to parent more effectively, and treat each of our guests young nd old with
the utmost respect. As such, we take the issue of privacy
very seriously. We especially respect the privacy of children,
and do not collect any more personal information
than is reasonably necessary to enable them to
participate in the activities we offer at our
websites.
Kids: Be sure
to ask your parents for permission before you
send any information about yourself (your name,
address, e-mail address, etc.) to us or anyone
else over the Internet.
Parents and Guardians:
We encourage you to get involved with your children's
online usage and to be aware of the activities
in which they are participating. While we welcome
all of our guests to enjoy the many features of
our site, we encourage you to limit your children's
time online. When used properly, the Internet
can be entertaining and educational. But even
we at BT Entertainment Holdings Limited realize that there is a lot more
to a well-balanced life than bouncing, talking balls.
Information Collection
Policies
At our sites, we have a policy of collecting limited
personally identifiable information. To enable
children to participate in some of our online
activities, we may ask them to provide us with
their first name and e-mail address. BTEH
will only use this information for internal purposes
-- for fulfillment of a requested transaction
or to respond to children’s specific requests
to participate in activities, such as creating personal avatars and manipulating them in our online environment.
On some of the pages of our
sites, such as where children can send electronic
postcards or game links to their friends, we may
ask your child to provide personal information
about other people. This is usually limited to
a first name and e-mail address. These personal
information will be deleted from our records as
soon as the e-mail card is sent. On some pages
where newsletter or "Balltown membership site" signups
are available, visitors are required to be 18
years older to sign up.
When you or your child visits
our sites, we automatically collect certain non-personally
identifiable information, such as the type of
computer operating system (e.g., Windows 2007 or
Mac OS) and browser (e.g., Firefox or Internet
Explorer) that you use, and the domain name of
your Internet service provider (e.g., America
Online, Earthlink). (See "Cookies,"
below.) We use this information to improve the
design and content of our site, and to enable
us to personalize your Internet experience. We
also may use this information in the aggregate
to analyze site usage and to offer you products,
programs or services.
We Do Not Share Personal
Information
We do not share any personal information with
anyone other than those who provide support for
the internal operations of the websites, and
our agents (e.g., contractors who provide fulfillment
services, such as credit card processing, product
order processing, or technical support to the
website). All such agents or contractors with
whom we share information have agreed to maintain
the security and integrity of personal information.
Product Orders:
BTEH uses an order form for users to request
products and order information. For that order
form, we collect the user's name, e-mail address,
organization, billing address, phone number, shipping
address, and necessary financial information to
process the order (i.e. credit card number). The
user is given the opportunity to have his address
stored for his next purchase. BTEH uses a
third party called Parable Interactive to accept
and process orders for merchandise and products.
In particular, Parable hosts the ordering system
and order data. Parable automatically collects
order information but may only use the information
in the aggregate to process orders. Parable uses
a standard and reliable encryption technology
to protect any personal information as it travels
across the Internet. Parable has also agreed to
maintain the security and integrity of personal
and credit card information.
We will disclose the information
we maintain when required to do so by law -- for
example, in response to a court order or subpoena.
We may also disclose such information in response
to a law enforcement agency's request.
If BTEH, or substantially
all of its assets, are acquired, the information
we collect may be one of the transferred assets.
Any such transfer will be subject to applicable
privacy laws.
Cookies: BigIdea.com
uses cookies to help us make the site better.
A "cookie" is a small, temporary file
placed on your computer's hard disk, and is used
to collect user information. (Unfortunately, it's
not edible!) Cookies help us to find out what
kind of computer and Web browser you are using
to visit our site, how often you visit our site,
and which pages you look at while you're here.
The information we gather from these cookies helps
us to make our site available to the most people
possible.
BTEH collects aggregate
information about visitors to our site. We do
not use cookies to collect specific information
about individual users, such as your name, address,
e-mail address, credit card information, passwords,
or anything else. Sometimes we will attach information
from cookies to messages sent to our Customer
Service department.
Most web browsers are initially
set to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can
set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert
you when cookies are being sent by changing your
preferences under the options menu of your browser.
However, some portions of our sites may not function
properly or may run very slowly when you change
this setting on your browser.
Security: We
have in place appropriate safeguards to secure
the very limited personal information we receive
from our visitors for the limited time it is in
our possession. We use industry standard security
measures, such as SSL, to protect any sensitive
information (such as credit card information)
that you may provide to us to access some of our
services.
Off-Site Links:
BTEH generally avoids linking from our websites
to other sites. Occasionally, we put up
links to partner sites for a limited time in order
to promote our contests. We require such partners
not to use the information collected for any other
purpose. We may also provide links to newsworthy
information or articles about BTEH that may
be of interest to Balltown website visitors (e.g.
awards and award nominations garnered by Balltown
videos and publications, and published reviews
of our products). Furthermore, we may offer the visitor
the option to view our video clips through third-party
software, such as Windows Media Player or QuickTime. We do not make
representations and warranties as to other sites'
content or information collection policies.
Changes to the Privacy
Policy: This policy is reviewed periodically
by BTEH and may be subject to change. Any
changes will be posted here.
Contact Us: Parents can review the information
that we have collected from their children online,
prevent the further use or maintenance of such
information, or direct the deletion of their children’s
or their own personal information. If you would
like to do so, or if you have any questions or
concerns about this privacy policy or these Web
